About me

Shaping meaningful spaces

Maria Manuel Ponte

Architect trained at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Coimbra, in Portugal, with a special interest in the integration of natural materials and sustainable strategies in contemporary architecture. During her studies, she participated in an exchange program at the University of Cagliari, in Italy, where she deepened her knowledge of traditional earthen construction techniques and their application in modern projects. As part of her academic development, she completed an integrated master’s thesis titled “Earthen Architecture: The Influence of Design on the Durability of Structures,” exploring how traditional materials can meet contemporary demands for comfort, aesthetics, and resilience.

Manu came to Mexico with the aim of learning from and collaborating with cultures where these techniques remain alive, traveling through several Latin American countries to study their traditional architecture. In Guatemala, she participated in the construction of a school using earth and bamboo. In Oaxaca, she worked on projects that integrated contemporary solutions with natural building techniques, and also took part in community initiatives to build homes and public spaces in local communities.

Manu is currently based in Baja California, where she designs and builds residential projects with a holistic approach. Her work is distinguished by its attention to detail and personalized guidance for each client throughout the process, ensuring that every space reflects both functionality and the identity of those who inhabit it. Her approach combines principles of sustainability, strategic use of materials, and harmonious integration with the surroundings, resulting in architectural spaces that are both authentic and timeless.
