Project summary

Development of rammed earth mixes in collaboration with FabrikG

Development of light straw clay mixes and natural plasters made from lime, soil and cactus slime.

White Lodge was developed by Stefano Frontani, its concept designer, with the vision of creating a sustainable refuge in Baja California, where the desert meets the sea. Designed to be completely off-grid, it operates with solar panels and rainwater harvesting, minimizing environmental impact.

In its design, priority was given to natural architecture and the use of local materials, avoiding industrial materials whenever possible. The main building and the semi-buried huts are constructed with light straw clay, while the larger huts use compacted earth and wooden roofs, with natural finishes of lime, earth and straw. Pergolas of reeds, an abundant species, complement the project.

Resistant to extreme conditions, the hotel has withstood several hurricanes, reaffirming its solidity and adaptation to the environment.
