Project summary

The Pilot Project for the Baja Marine Research & Education Center is conceived as a modular, self-sufficient, and low-impact complex designed to support marine conservation, artisanal fisheries, scientific research, and environmental education in Baja California Sur.

The center is intended to host researchers, students, local collaborators, and eco-tourists for short-term stays. As it is located within protected natural areas, all structures are designed as lightweight, removable, and non-invasive solutions, ensuring minimal environmental impact and full reversibility.

The project seeks to become a seed for knowledge and environmental awareness, integrating architecture, community, and territory into a sensitive and replicable model.

Primary materials

Materials are selected for their lightness, local availability, and ease of transport. Wood, woven palm (petate), fabrics, shade mesh, and fishermen’s nets are used, prioritizing removable, low-impact systems suitable for protected natural areas.
